Fletcher Pilates Around the World
2019 was an amazing Fletcher Pilates adventure! We had the honor of continuing the legacy of Joseph Pilates via Ron Fletcher’s methodology around the
world.
We held our first TWO international Fletcher Pilates conferences in Brazil and South Korea. Hosted by Adriano Bittar and Karla Relvas, our June Brazil
event proved to be a spectacular gathering of Pilates teachers and practitioners from schools and lineages from across South America. Our September
conference in Korea, hosted by Sujung Kim, was an equally successful, sold-out event uniting Pilates teachers from throughout Asia. We also introduced
Fletcher Pilates to Eastern Europe through the MoveOn conference in Romania.
Following these conferences, Kyria had the honor of teaching the first Fletcher Intensives in Dubai, Seoul and China and while our Director of Education,
Deborah Mendoza initiated the first Professional Program in Spain, hosted by Prado Camacho in her lovely Madrid studio. Our Fletcher faculty will
take a brief hiatus from travel only to begin planning for intensives and workshops to be held in Europe, Asia and the Middle East in early 2020.
It has been beyond thrilling to share the Fletcher Pilates lineage with talented and enthusiastic practitioners from around the world – both in their
home countries and during their visits to our Fletcher Pilates headquarters in Arizona. It is as much an honor as it is a joy to bring this work
to hundreds of Pilates educators through these courses and events. The ripple effect will reach many more.
A little closer to home, several Fletcher faculty attended the Pilates Method Alliance annual conference in Monterey, California this past October.
A proud corporate sponsor, Fletcher Pilates sported a booth where demonstrations, fascinating discussions and shenanigans took place. Shenanigans
aside, Kyria Sabin presented a workshop and at the general assembly, while Deborah Mendoza led several breakout sessions.
In line with the classic song verse, “everything old is new again,” this year we will reimagine Ron Fletcher’s classic, “Every Body is Beautiful” and
publish it in a fresh, hard-copy format, with updates to accompany Ron’s timeless wisdom.
There’s a lot in the works and we’re up for the challenge! Always upward in motion, we’re are all looking forward to what 2020 has in store for Fletcher
Pilates!
